Product description
Besides delivering exact depth readings, this precision gauge features a remote digital display that mounts up to 3 feet from the sensor! It’s perfect for router lifts, and can also be used on shapers and other woodworking machines. The gauge is accurate to within .001 inch, and displays its digital measurements in either decimals (inches and millimeters) or fractions (inches). It has push-button zeroing capability at any point.
From the Manufacturer
This digital readout kit is ideal for router lifts. The WR525 is a kit that can be adapted to a number of woodworking machines, including router lifts, router tables, and shapers. It has a remote display connected with a 3 foot cord that can be disconnected for easy installation and access. The easy to install kit requires drilling 2 small holes in your machine using the drill bit supplied. Mounting hardware is included and fits router lifts made by Woodpeckers, Jessem, Jointech, and others. The large easy to read display reads in inches with fractions or millimeters. The fractions are displayed using “Precise Fraction Technology” which gives you 4 times the accuracy of other fraction readouts.

I added the scale to a incra router lift. It works really well for incremental measurements. It uses normal button batteries but I found you can’t use the lithium variety as the display screws up.

I deducted 2 stars because of a QC issue and in my opinion, a less than desirable or old design, being that it could have been made to accept the AAA batteries instead of a coin battery. I love their WR700 digital readout that uses AAA batteries that weren’t included. The marginal space saving (if any) attributes of the current design aren’t significant in this application. The QC issue was that it didn’t work with either of the 2 coin batteries that came with it, I do realize that they didn’t have to ship it with batteries at all, BUT if you’re going to include batteries, why not send good ones, I mean there are other ways to dispose of your toxic waste. It’s not all bad though, it does what the manufacturer says it will, I find it to be a convenience and would recommend it.

Product works perfectly five star for sure, just make sure your lift has little or no backlash otherwise the unit is a bit challenging to use. My Woodpecker lift is well worn so I always approach my desired bit height by lowering the bit well below the desired height and tune it in by lifting. This way gravity keeps the backlash honest. The product works fine, it just does not make up for the short comings of the worn lift. Barry in customer service is a pleasure to work with.
