I purchased this specifically for its power and plunge depth to use on a router sled to flatten glued-up panels too wide for my planer. On its maiden voyage, less than a minute into operation, using a large bit specifically designed for the purpose, spinning at slow speed, it encountered a knot in the wood. The router quit, never to restart. There is power to the router as indicated by the lit on/off switch and the bit rotates freely. I tried every troubleshooting method I could find but couldn’t get it to start again.
I reported the problem to Triton customer service and received the reply (5 days later), “It has probably blown the armature. We will need to get it in for repair.”
I searched the internet to see if there might be an easy solution to the problem and found someone else had the same problem so I wonder if this router has a design flaw. I gave the router 3 stars because I hope after it’s fixed that it will do everything I need, but at this point that’s solely a matter of hope.

Maybe 5 stars for hand held use but 1 star for table use. it has some nice features including a sort of real time plunge depth adjustment and a dust port. Reliability (see below) might be an issue.

I’ve been a successful woodworker for 50+ years. Bought this product for a special project and the first time I used it, it caught on fire. Very dangerous. I contacted customer support with a description of what happened and a picture. No response. After multiple contacts by phone and email, nothing. Their product is not only worthless as they don’t stand by their warranty, but it is extremely dangerous.

Worked as advertised, till it didn’t. Customer service was outstanding though and we are getting it sorted. I still believe it’s a good router just got a bad one. I am replacing the defective one with the same model

This router is very easy to adjust. The depth adjustments are rock solid and work great for flattening slabs. It adjust fairly low so you will not need a collet extension if you use something to boost the slab up. In fact, for safety, I would not recommend you use an extension if you use a bit with a longer shaft. The first unit had some issues. Sent it back and got a different machine and it works great. I think the first machine I got was a return as it had the 1/2″ collet in the machine and did not have shrink wrap around the box. All good now.

I’ve been using this in a router table for a few years now and it works very well. Bit changes and height adjustment are easy. It’s loud, but has lots of power.
