I have used two of these with OF1400 to rout accurate mortises for thrust bolts on my custom French screen doors. Takes a little getting used to, but very accurate once you get the hang of it. Love most things Festool.

I use an up cut spiral bit in my router with an edge guide to cut mortises in the furniture I build. For several years I’ve used a PC router and PC edge guide. It’s given me acceptable results, but I’ve been frustrated with getting a precise setup and fine adjustments. After some research I made the leap to a Festool 1400 router and this edge guide. The difference between the Festool and PC is night and day. The Festool edge guide is easy to attach to the router, set to the marks and really easy to make precise fine adjustments. I’ve used it to cut about 4 dozen mortises of various size as well as to cut the area needed to install an inset vise in my workbench. The leap to Festool is hard on the pocket book, but the results are worth it. The other bonus to me is the dust collection. After 2 dozen mortises I had maybe a tablespoon of dust that wasn’t picked up by the vacuum. Time saved cleaning up is great.

I’ve been picking up attachments to my 1400 router and my 1010 router and for some reason, the parts for the 1400 are a much better deal. I say that because this edge guide comes with some parts that are extra for the 1010. Why?
Anyways, this is a heavy duty and robust edge guide, and well made with less plastic than the 1010 edge guide. Like, it comes WITH the dust guard and the fine adjustment built in, those are both extra costs with the 1010 Plus the fine adjustment is much more heavy duty and more well built. This guide is a bargain if you ask me. Fits the router perfectly and does the job well.
