I had thought about building my own, but after looking at this one, the simplicity, the fact that it folds out of the way when not in use, ease of adjustment and the price, I bought it, and it’s lived up to expectations. I like that fact that the “feet” can be turned right or left to adjust for level–many stands don’t have that function. It’s getting a lot of use now and I can devote time to furniture making, rather than building fixtures. A good tool for the price.

The stand itself is nice and sturdy, also has handy cam-leveling on the feet. The ball bearings don’t roll very well but you can’t lube them with anything or it will get on your material, works just ok.

So almost everything about this works really well and I like everything about it EXCEPT the leg foot print. It’s HUGE. These things need to open up very wide and take up a large portion of the floor. I guess it gives it added stability but I think they could have reduced that significantly and it still hold up well. The ball bearings up top are awesome. The way you can change the height on the legs by rotating these little feet things is awesome as well. I like that design quite a bit, was a neat idea whoever thought that up. The ability to raise and lower it is easy to do as well. But man… those legs open way too wide for me.
